Dangdang made its name selling books and music online. As the book market became less lucrative, however, it expanded its offerings, launching an online store for all sorts of consumer goods in addition to its core business. As China's largest business to consumer website, more than 50% of Dangdang's sales in the past few months have been neither books nor music, reports National Business Daily. But Dangdang is continuing to expand in a C2C direction, challenging industry leaders Taobao and eBay.

China's
National Development and Reform Commission announced on 28 October that it was
dropping the retail price ceiling on 22 separate drugs. This is the 17th price
drop since the government resumed regulating the prices on certain types of
medication. According to the National Business Daily, these repeated
price drops have not been effective in alleviating the problem much of Chinese
society has with affording drugs and medical treatment. High drug prices are
merely a symptom of a deeper problem within the Chinese medical system.
