Japanese Omron Corp – a leading manufacturer of automatic and sensory devices – has invested US$9.7 million in a cooperative innovation center in Shanghai’s Zizhu Science and Technology Zone, the Shanghai Business Journal reported. It will be the company’s first R&D research establishment outside Japan. Omron said it will gradually shift its research projects to the Shanghai center and will collaborate with local universities, such as Jiaotong University, which is known for its mechanical and IT studies.
