325 banking officials removed in 2005
The China Banking Regulatory Commission disqualified 325 high-level managers for financial irregularities in 2005, the Beijing Times reports. During the course of its investigations, the commission uncovered 761.1 billion yuan in improper funds in financial institutions; as a result, it issued fines to 1205 institutions and 6826 individuals committing the infractions. Of the individuals, 325 upper level managers had their qualifications revoked, an increase of 81 from 2004. Of those removed, 222 were serving in rural credit cooperatives and 81 in state-owned commercial banks.Link: http://www.bjt.net.cn/news.asp?newsid=136792
