3M has put US$30 million into its firs high-tech manufacturing facility in southern China, China Business News reports. 3M Materials Technology (Guangzhou) will be the sixth production facility for 3M in China, and will bring the company's total Chinese investment to date to US$400 million. Phase one of the facility, a US$17.6 million investment, will go into operation in 2007, manufacturing electrical, industrial, and optical equipment. 3M China president Yu Junxiong said that the facility, which will cover 80,000 square meters when entirely completed, represents 3M's increased pace of expansion in southern China. He also said that the company projects US$1.9 million in sales for the entire China region this year. Link: http://biz.ynet.com/view.jsp?oid=7690188
