51job.com (JOBS.NASDAQ), one of China's top three online job search websites, said over the weekend that its operating revenue dropped 5.1% year-on-year to RMB209 million (US$30.6 million) in the third quarter of the year, News.21cn.com
reported. The revenue from its online recruitment service was up 6.4% year-on-year but down 6.7% quarter-on-quarter to RMB77.7 million (US$11.37 million); the first time it saw such a quarterly decline. The website had 62,023 employers as at the end of September, down from 64,813 as at the end of June; also the first time it saw such a decline since 2006. Spending by these employers averaged RMB1,253 (US$183) during the third quarter, down from RMB1,285 (US$188) in the second quarter. Human resource services earned 51job RMB45.3 million (US$6.63 million) in revenue in the third quarter, up 53.3% year-on-year and 18.3% quarter-on-quarter.
