China's quality oversight administration announced on 8 January that an inspection of down clothing in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu found that more than 30% of products inspected failed to meet national standards, Xinhua reports. In several cases, the report said, "down" products failed to contain any down whatsoever. The inspection, which did not cover products intended for export, resulted in a pass rate of 67.9%.
