Acquisition inevitable in cosmetics industry
Dabao Cosmetics was the Chinese cosmetics brand thought most likely to be able to withstand the tide of foreign brands targeting mainland consumers. Now it has been bought by industry giant Johnson & Johnson, China Economics Weekly reports that fierce competition, slow corporate growth and aging management could leave the domestic cosmetics industry ripe for the picking.
