Amoi Electronics confirmed yesterday that it had signed a supply contract with France Telecom subsidiary Orange, China Business News reports. This brings to three the number of European sales agents to which Amoi is supplying 3G mobile phones. An Amoi spokesperson said that the company expects a long-term partnership with France Telecom. Amoi exported over 100,000 3G handsets through December last year to western Europe, southeast Asia, and Taiwan. The company says that its strength rests on low R&D and production costs in comparison to foreign manufacturers; it has spent 100 million yuan in R&D on 3G technologies to date. A high-level source within Amoi said that the company's export strategy did not rest on low prices.Amoi Electronics: 600057.SHLink: http://dycj.ynet.com/article.jsp?oid=7728282
