Chinese Internet search provider Baidu.com Inc has second quarter results better than expected, with net profit rising 65.9 percent quarter-on-quarter to 58.5 million yuan on increased traffic and growth in the customer base, Forbes reported. 'Our results show user traffic growth, revenue increase, customer base expansion and enhanced profitability,' said Forbes, quoting the firm's chief executive Robin Li.   Revenue from online marketing, which accounted for 189.1 million yuan of the total, rose 43.2 percent sequentially, primarily due to and expanded direct sales force and a rise in active online marketing customers.   The company also noted that the growth in active online marketing customers was driven in part by a greater acceptance of Baidu's pay-for-performance services among small to medium-sized businesses.   Baidu said that it will continue to investing in supporting traffic flow, developing new product as well as boosting its presence in major cities through active sales and marketing.
