BenQ loses US$300 million
In its fourth-quarter report for the 2005 fiscal year, BenQ recorded a loss of US$185 million resulting from its acquisition of Siemens' mobile phone business, the Beijing Times reports. The loss brings its total for the fiscal year to US$300 million, the first major annual loss BenQ has suffered. Huan Hanzhou, deputy general manager of BenQ Telecom, said that the company had predicted a loss for the fourth quarter, but that US$185 million was more severe than expected. Acquisition-related losses were compounded by a stagnant mobile phone market that kept down performance.Link: http://bjt.net.cn/news.asp?newsid=142117
