Carrefour, Wal-Mart Boost China Sales on New Outlets
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's biggest retailer, and Carrefour SA, Europe's largest, enjoyed surging sales in China last year after opening more stores in one of the fastest-growing retail markets, Bloomberg reported. Carrefour boosted its China sales 53% to 24.8 billion yuan (US$3.2 billion), climbing one notch to become the country's fifth-biggest retailer, according to the China Chain Store & Franchise Association.
