Chinese automaker Chery said it will introduce five new models, including its first hybrid, next year, China Auto News reported. The new models include one sedan, while the remainder are compact cars. The hybrid car, based on Chery’s A5 model and named ISG, is powered by a 1.3-liter engine. Chery’s holds a 7.2% share of the domestic auto-sales market, putting it among the top five domestic automakers. Its sales have increased 8-fold over the past five years. Chery is testing its first hybrid model in Wuhu, Zhejiang province, where it is based. China’s total auto sales surged 21% year-on-year to 4.36 million and production grew 21.6% year-on-year to 4.6 million in the first nine months. The country is the world’s second largest auto market.
