Southern Airlines Passenger Traffic Rises 14% in August
China Southern Airlines Ltd (NYSE: ZNH, HKG: 1055, SHA: 600029) said its passenger traffic growth sped up in August, up 14% from a year earlier, compared with 9% in July and 10% in the year through August. Passenger traffic from domestic and international routes was up 13% and 17% year on year respectively. On a monthly basis, passenger traffic increased 7% (domestic up 7% and international up 6%) in August. The company's cargo traffic was up 4% both year on year and month on month in August.
China Railway Corp Loss Narrows in 1H
China Railway Corp, the company that took over business operations of the powerful Ministry of Railways that broke up in March, said its net profit contracted to 6.5 billion yuan in 1H 2013 compared with a year earlier, with its debt-to-asset ratio slight up to 62.6%. It had 4.66 trillion yuan in assets and 2.92 trillion yuan in liabilities as at the end of June 2013, up 3.9% and 4.5% respectively from a year earlier. Medium and long-term debts made up almost 80% of its total liabilities. The company's revenue stacked up to 490.37 billion yuan in 1H 2013, including 288.85 billion yuan from transport services.
Huawei Forecasts 10%pa Growth in 5-Year Period
Huawei Technologies Co, China's biggest telecoms equipment maker, said it expects its revenue to grow 10% annually in the 5 years starting 2013 from $35 billion in 2012, buoyed by sales of consumer and corporate gadgets. Its revenue totaled $18.59 billion in 1H 2013.
