China to Eclipse US as Largest Trader
China will probably overstake the US as the world's largest trader this year, backed by domestic economic reforms and a global recovery, said Ministry of Commerce spokesman Shen Danyang. Shen said there were signs that China's foreign trade regained momentum in recent months, and he predicted China's bilateral trade value would grow 8% this year.
4G License to Released by Year End
China will release 4G licenses by the end of this year, Miao Wei, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the China International Information and Communication Exhibition. Experts estimate investments in the 4G sector will exceed 300 billion yuan in the next 3 years.
Food Prices Rise Slightly
Staple food prices rose week on week in China's 36 largest cities in the week through September 22, the National Bureau of Statistics said. Vegetable prices dropped 1.3%; pork and beef prices rose 0.2% and 0.6% respectively; seafood prices rose 1.6%; and egg prices rose 0.7%.
