August 12 – China produced 55.06 million tons of pig iron in July, up 17.3% from a year ago. Monthly crude steel output hit a record low of 59.3 million tons in July despite the volume up 15.5% year on year, according to National Bureau of Statistics.

August 10 – China's soybean imports declined 5.5% year on year to 29.06 million tons in the first seven months, according to customs figures.
