July 5 – China produced 140.7 tons of gold in the first five months of 2012, up 6.6% from the same period a year ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. The top 10 gold producers were responsible for almost half of the total output. Industrial output from China's gold industry grew 18% year on year to ¥110.65 billion between January and May, with industrial profits up 2.7% to ¥11.23 billion.

July 2 – China's cement output grew 5% year on year to 793.98 million tons in January-May; the rate was 14.3 percentage points slower than in the same period a year ago. Cement stockpiles at major cement producers rose 14.1% from a year earlier to 18.58 million tons as of the end of May.
