February 20 – Decathlon, a French sportswear and equipment retailer, said it plans to open 100 outlets in China in the next five years. It is currently operating 39 stores in the country.

February 20 – China will likely become the world's biggest diamond consumer by 2016, predicted Ari Epstein, CEO of Antwerp World Diamond Center.

February 17 – The number of cellphone users in China rose 14.8% to 986 million in 2011 and is projected to reach 1.11 billion by the end of this year, according to Analysys International. The number of 3G-backed cellphone users totaled 128 million last year.

February 17 – The 3,000 retailers tracked by the Ministry of Commerce saw their revenues grow 12.7% year on year in January, with sales of home appliances and vehicles down 10% and 4.8% respectively.

February 16 – China's online retail sales climbed 55% to ¥805.98 billion in 2011, according to Analysys International.

February 15 – Metro AG said it will open its first store in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province by the end of February. The German retailer currently operates 12 stores in 10 cities in the province.

February 14 – China's biggest 50 retailers saw their revenues grow 13.5% in January 2012, 21.1 and 23.6 percentage points slower than in January 2009 and January 2006, when the Chinese New Year also fell in that month, according to CNCIC, an information collector.
