China Eastern, AVIC I launch Joy Air
China Eastern Airlines and aircraft manufacturer AVIC I launched a joint venture carrier Friday to target the regional market in western China, Air Transport World reported. Joy Air will be based in Xi'an, which is emerging as a key economic hub in the west. AVIC I took a controlling 60% stake in Joy for RMB600 million and CEA took the remaining 40% stake for RMB400 million.
