China's CPI rose 4.9% in January from a year ago, where urban prices were up 4.8% and rural prices up 5.2%, said the National Bureau of Statistics. Food prices, which account for around 1/3 of the CPI basket, jumped 10.3% in January. PPI was up 7.5% compared to January 2009.
