China rolled out $40 billion worth of integrated circuits in 2009, supplying 25.1% of domestic demand from 20.9% in 2004, an Information Network report out Monday has shown. The government invested $7 billion in just two semiconductor plants over the past five years and will invest $25 billion in the coming five years, noted the report. It predicted domestic capacity would meet one-third of domestic demand by 2013.
