May 2 – Shanghai Construction Group Co (SHA: 600170) said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shanghai SFECO Group, will purchase 60% of Zara Mining Co for $80 million from Chalice Gold Mines. Zara Mining has an estimated five million tons of gold reserves in the eastern African nation of Eritrea.
May 2 – China's Ministry of Commerce has postponed making a decision on its antitrust review of a joint takeover bid of
China Gas Holdings Ltd (HKG: 0384) by Sinopec Corp (NYSE: SNP, SHA: 600028, HKG: 0386) and ENN Energy Holdings Ltd (HKG: 2688) until July 6. The two prospective buyers offered a total of $2.15 billion in December targeting China Gas's extensive network covering over 50 million people across the nation.
April 28 – Sinopec Corp (NYSE: SNP, SHA: 600028, HKG: 0386) said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corp, has finished its $2.44 billion takeover of some of Devon Energy Corp's (NYSE: DVN) shale gas assets, marking a $240 million premium over the original price.
April 27 – The value of merger and acquisition transactions in China's mining industry increased more than fourfold to $7.9 billion in Q1 2012, according to the Ministry of Land and Resources.
April 26 – Shenzhen Ruihe Construction & Decoration Co (SHE: 002620) said it plans to pay ¥140 million for 100% of Shenzhen Airline Hotel. The hotel posted ¥4.09 million in revenues and ¥4.19 million in net losses last year. Shenzhen Ruihe said the purchase was aimed at acquiring properties that could be developed as its future office building.
April 26 – Shenzhen Grandland Decoration Group Co (SHE: 002482) said it plans to purchase 60% of Chengdu, Sichuan province-based Huanan Building Materials and Decoration Co for ¥48.96 million. Huanan posted ¥20.22 million in revenues and ¥191,200 in net profits for Q1 2012.
April 26 – Renhe Pharmacy Co (SHE: 000650) said it plans to spend a total of ¥288.15 million buying out Yaodu Zhangshu
Pharmaceutical Co and Yaodu Yaoye Pharmaceutical Co from their parent, Jiangxi Yaodu Pharmaceutical Co.
