China online game market reached 1.78 billion in Q2
Analysys International released a report that China's online gaming market reached 1.78 billion yuan (222.5 million US dollars) in the second quarter of 2006, representing an increase of 19.02 percent over the first quarter of 2006.
According to the ''China Online Gaming Market Quarterly Tracker Q2 2006'', in the second quarter of 2006, Netease's gaming revenue growth slowed down to 8.7 percent quarter over quarter. The company's market share decreased from 30.1 percent in the first quarter to 27.3 percent in the second quarter. Tencent's growth also slowed down and achieved a growth of 5percent quarter over quarter. Tencent's market share also decreased from 10.7 percent in the first quarter to 9.4 percent in the second quarter.
Market concentration declined slightly. Shanda's market share reached 21 percent and The9's market share reached 15.12 percent. Market share of the top 3 vendors including Netease, Shanda and The9, decreased from 65.6 percent in the first quarter to 63.4 percent in the second quarter.
China's online gaming market size reached 3.275 billion yuan (409.38 million US dollars) in the first half of 2006.
