China Unicom (NYSE: CHU, SHA: 600050, HKG: 0762) will charge a uniform fee for its 3G service subscribers by waiving roaming, national call, and incoming call charges, people with knowledge of the issue have said. The new scheme would halve the current 3G package prices ranging from ¥186 to ¥1,686. Experts expect its rivals, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, HKG: 0941) and China Telecom (NYSE: CHA, HKG: 0728), to come up with more competitive offers.
