Harbin Electric Inc (NASDAQ: HRBN), a leading Chinese developer and manufacturer of electric motors, has launched a new model of in-house developed specialty micro-motors for one-touch automatic car truck after 2 years of R&D. The annual capacity of the new product is 800,000 units.
Huaneng Power International Inc (NYSE: HNP, SHA: 600011, HKG: 0902), China's largest listed power producer, said Wednesday that it will buy ¥1.2 billion ($1 = ¥6.7) worth of shipping and nuclear assets from its parent.
China Natural Gas Inc (NASDAQ: CHNG), a Xi'an, Shaanxi province-based provider of compressed natural gas for car fuel and pipeline natural gas for industrial, commercial and residential uses, has signed a contract with a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC). Under the terms, China Natural Gas has the privilege to purchase up to 500,000m3 of natural gas per day, or 150 million m3 per year, from CNPC Changqing at ¥1.355/m3. The agreement is valid through 31 Dec 2011.
Home Inns & Hotels Management Inc (NASDAQ: HMIN), a leading Chinese budget hotel chain, said Wednesday it has signed up with its 1000th partner. Of them, 750 have opened for business. It also said 60% of new openings will be franchises.
Chemspec International Ltd (NYSE: CPC), a leading Chinese manufacturer of highly-engineered specialty chemicals, said Ted Tak Tai Lee has resigned from the board of directors and the independent committee of the board. Wang Zixin, Qian Zhao and Dr Hai Mi have been anointed to the board. Dr David Yunhung Tang, another member of the board, announced his retirement on Nov 11. Now the board has six directors.
China Marine Food Group Ltd (NYSE: CMFO), said Wednesday its Hi-Power beverages sales were worth $2.5 million and $3 million in Oct and Nov, fuelled by strong orders from existing distributors. There are roughly 12,000 stores where Hi-Power is available.
China Sunergy Co (NASDAQ:CSUN), a specialized solar manufacturer based in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, and Pythagoras Solar, a provider of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products, Wednesday announced the signing of an agreement to co-market and advance the development and scale manufacturing of BIPV products in China from 2010 through 2015. The agreement positions both companies to capitalize on opportunities in the growing BIPV market through the use of Pythagoras Solar's transparent, high power photovoltaic glass units. Research firm NanoMarkets put the value of Asia's 2009 BIPV market at $600 million and value of the global market in excess of $8 billion by 2015.
Charm Communications Inc (NASDAQ: CHRM), a leading Chinese advertising agency, said Wednesday it has signed an exclusive advertising agreement with Beijing Gehua Cable TV Network Co about operations of digital media advertising on its interactive HDTV platform. Gehua Cable is a Beijing-based digital cable TV operator whose network covers over 4 million viewers across 100 channels. Its HDTV has attracted over 1 million subscribers since it was launched a year ago, and is expected to attract another 300,000 by the end of 2010.
