Senior Chinese official  has urged the United States to give up its "cold war mentality" and take constructive measures to promote Sino-US trade relations, instead of contradicting past agreements.   Chong Quan, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, remarked on the US’s proposed restrictions over export of high technology goods to China. According to People’s Daily, Chong said that the US should, by taking the overall Sino-US ties into consideration, promote bilateral trade of high technologies to ease the trade imbalance between the two sides. He further emphasized the new measures go against the interests of both Chinese and US firms and bilateral trade ties to set up irrational obstacles and additional premises to the normal trade between the two sides.
