CNPC to boost gas pipeline capacity
China National Petroleum Corp, the parent of PetroChina Co Ltd, plans to invest 4.3 billion yuan (537.5 million US dollars) to boost its Xinjiang to Shanghai gas pipeline capacity to 17 billion cubic meters from 12 billion, Forbes reported.
The capacity-boosting project will raise the number of pumping stations along the line from the current 10 to 22. Most of the existing facilities will also be expanded.
China's natural gas consumption is expected to surpass 30 bln cubic meters in 2007, said Forbes.
