Coke, T2CN in online game deal
The Coca-cola company yesterday formally announced its partnership with T2CN, the operator of the Freestyle Street Basketball online game, China Business News reports. The partnership, which was rumored as early as mid-January, was finally revealed yesterday, though the two companies declined to disclose any further details, citing a need for secrecy. Reportedly, Coke will offer chances to win in-game items through its beverages starting in March, and beginning in April, T2CN will launch basketball tournaments in 20 Chinese cities, to be sponsored by Coke. Freestyle has registered more than 3 million users since it launched late last year, said T2CN CEO Deng Runze. Deng also said that the game has broken above 300,000 users online simultaneously, a figure rumored in the sector to be the threshold above which Coke must pay out 1.5 million yuan per month for in-game advertising. According to Deng, in-game advertising accounts for 25% of total company revenue.Link: http://dycj.ynet.com/article.jsp?oid=7854198
