DaimlerCrysler to expand commercial vehicles production
DaimlerChrysler will expand its commercial vehicle business in China by increasing local production capacity, Forbes reported, citing the China Daily. The company is awaiting approval for a plant in Fujian province, run as a joint venture with Fujian Motor Industry Group Co. and Taiwan's China Motor Corp., which will have annual production capacity of 40,000 vans. The company also signed a memorandum of understanding with Beiqi Foton Motor Co., with which it already has a joint venture producing Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. The China Daily reported that DaimlerChrysler will likely use the Foton venture to produce Mercedes-Benz heavy-duty trucks.
