Disney exec talks about Shanghai park rumors
According to a report in the Hong Kong paper Wen Hui Po, Disney president Bob Iger said confirmed rumors that the company was in talks with the Shanghai government to build a theme park in the city. He said that following the new park in Hong Kong, the company had been in talks with government entities in the mainland about the possibility of building a theme park. He also said that at present, there were no new developments to report. A Disney spokesperson in Hong Kong emphasized that contrary to rumors, no second park would open in China within four years.Yao Zhongyi, head of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, said that a Shanghai park would have little effect on Hong Kong, stressing that Hong Kong had other attractions to offer tourists beyond a single theme park.Iger did not refer to the recent chaos over park entry during the crowded Spring Festival, but merely mentioned the fact that the park had sold out its tickets for four days in a row.Link: http://news1.jrj.com.cn/news/2006-02-08/000001419225.html
