Domestic Mobile Phones Lose Market Share
The market share commanded by Chinese mobile phone manufactures dropped to 31% in 2005, according to a report by telecom industry consultant Pday Research. This figure is less than that of Nokia, whose sales accounted for 34% of the 88 million units sold last year. Together, the top three brands, Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung, controlled 60% of the market, while 40 of the 50 domestic brands taken together had just a 15% market share. Pday predicts that domestic market share will continue to slip throughout 2006, driven downward by competition with international brands on prices, distribution channels, and promotion methods.Link: http://www.china-cbn.com/s/n/000004/20060314/000000014121.shtml
