Dongying city said it will set aside 30 square kilometers to develop a base for renewable and clean energy technologies, including solar and wind power, Xinhua reported. Roland Berger Strategy Consultant (Shanghai) Limited has signed a deal to assist the local government of the Shandong provincial city to develop the area. Dongying is rich in fresh water, fossil fuels, natural gas, wind and solar power, marine, geothermal and biomass energy. The Dongying Economic Development Zone is home to a number of national-level oil and gas refining and photovoltaic projects. It has attracted US$6.74 billion (RMB46 billion) worth of investment in 508 projects, 165 of which have become operational.
