Everbright introduces small business loans
Everbright Bank has begun offering small
business loans for values up to 10 million yuan (US$1.23 million), reports The Beijing News. Beginning in November,
Everbright launched programs in Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Ningbo
and has plans to expand the service nationally next year. Everbright had
previously directed loans solely at companies; this service extends loans to
entrepreneurs and small-business owners, who use their own property as
collateral. Small businesses make up 90% of China's total enterprises
numerically, and account for 60% of total national corporate assets.
