First Motorola flagship store arrives in Shanghai
The first Motorola flagship store opens in Shanghai on July 13. This is the first flagship store of the company around the world, reports Xinhua net.
Motorola’s Vice-president, Michael Tatelman, said that this is the company’s effort to create new retail culture for mobile phone. The flagship store allows customers to have personal experience with the products and services.
After 2 years’ of in-depth market research, Motorola finally formulates a customer-oriented selling method that can control selling channels in an increasingly competitive market like china, said analysts.
Statistics show that by 2008, the number of global mobile phone users would increase to 30 millions and 80% growth come from such new markets as China and India. In 2006, China Mobile’s users would grow to 4.32 million, a 15% year-on-year increase.
Tatelman stated that 3 more flagship stores would be opened in China this year.
The opening follows Motorola’s announcement earlier this week that the company would establish 2 new Research and Development (R&D) centres within this year and recruit up to 1,000 engineers in China. With the aim to cater the needs for Asian and Chinese customers, a recent R&D centre was established in Hangzhou recently.
