Geely R&D delays in Hong Kong
Geely said that because of delays
encountered in setting up a parts development center in Hong Kong, its R&D
project would not get off the ground in Hong Kong until after March next year, China Business News reports. In July of
this year, the automaker signed a partnership memorandum with the Hong Kong
Productivity Council to develop a line of vehicles and parts in Hong Kong, originally set to launch by the end of this
year. The Hong Kong government had earmarked
HK$350 million for the construction of an auto parts R&D center, and other
investment brought the total to HK$500 million, of which Geely's project was a
major part. A government representative said that the delay was due to
processing, and that more time was needed to carefully review the materials.
