General Motors sales up 36.7% in the first 9 months
General Motors Corp and its joint venture companies in mainland China sold 645,680 vehicles between January and September, a 36.7 percent year-on-year increase, Forbes reported. Forbes quoted GM China as saying in a statement that the total consists of vehicle sales made by GM, Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling in the first nine months. It also predicted that its full-year sales would outpace the market, tipping annual sales growth of about 30 percent. Sales in the final quarter should be boosted by new offerings from the Cadillac and Wuling brands, as well as GM's participation in upcoming trade shows and promotions, the statement said. GM China said that in the first nine months it saw record demand for its Buick and Chevrolet products, and growing demand for its Saab and Opel import line-ups, as well as its Cadillac luxury portfolio.
