Golden week: the gains and losses beyond numbers

China has had 14 golden weeks since the first long holiday launched in 2000. Although statistics prove that the long and short trips home and elsewhere stimulate spending and boost internal demands for consumer goods and services, economists doubt whether these are helping the economy in the long run.
