Guangzhou Honda to increase sales network 16%

Guangzhou Honda will increase its network of sales locations from 251 to 290 in 2006, National Business Daily reports. Industry insiders believe that this move is related to the introduction the new City model, as well as the impending opening of a new manufacturing facility. City has been approved for sale by the relevant government agencies and may go on the market as early as March. Guangzhou Honda sold 230,000 vehicles in 2005, and plans to raise this to 260,000 in 2006. When a second plant goes into operation in 2007, production will increase to 360,000 vehicles annually; the present 15% rate of increase of sales would mean that production would significantly outpace the 300,000 vehicles sold in 2007. With an expanded sales network, meeting the 360,000 vehicle goal becomes more realistic. A source with Honda said that while the sales network would indeed be expanding, particular cities had yet to be determined. Link: http://www.nbd.com.cn/admin/module/news/newsFile/20062523325.htm
