H1 revenue up 10% for China telecom sector
Revenue in China's telecoms sector rose 10.7 percent in the first half of 2006 compared to the same period last year, driven by rapid growth in mobile phone subscribers, Reuters reported, quoted Xinhua.
Chinese telecoms reported revenue of 345.57 billion yuan in the first half of 2006, Xinhua news agency reported late on Thursday, citing Ministry of Information Industry statistics.
On average, China added 5.49 million new mobile phone subscribers a month over the same period, more than double growth in land lines, it said.
China now has 426 million mobile phone users -- 32.7 for every 100 people -- and 365 million land lines, Xinhua said.
