Starting on June 11 in Beijing, Ministry of Commerce’s “Walk of Chinese Brands” campaign has entered Canton province from Fujian. China Business News investigated what officials, companies and experts’ opinions on the future of Chinese brands.   With China’s import and export amount to the third of the world, some national enterprises have developed more mature branding concept such as Lenovo and Chang Hong. Another national name, Fujian-born Prima, has network covered more tan 100 countries and regions. 4 out of every 100 television sold globally are from Prima. The company uses systematic manufacturing, innovation, branding and successfully established 33 brands of shoes, jackets and so on.   However, the overall picture for Chinese brands is not as positive. There are few Chinese brands known and recognized internationally and their cycles can be very short. This is a sharp contrast and imbalance with the large export number.   This campaign led by the Ministry of Commerce has raised the awareness towards branding, copyright and the need for long-term investment on the part of the national enterprises.   Jin Jiang is the jacket manufacturing capital. The city had 67000000 production of jackets in 2005 with sales amounted to 25 million US dollars; export amounted to 85000000 with sales of 21.3 million US dollars. President of Septwolves clothing, Zhou Yongwei, commented that national brands would be more profitable with appropriate branding and overseas sales.   Business sales strategist, Yuan Fang, estimated that with consolidation of branding and sales strategies, China’s national brands would be more recognizable overseas by 2008.
