Himin to set up plant in Shanghai
The Himin Solar Energy Group is seeking to construct a major facility in Shanghai to manufacture solar water heaters, National Business Daily reports. Quoting a source within the company's marketing department, the report says that Himin is currently scouting out locations and plans to begin construction on the 133 hectare facility in the near future. Himin's annual sales in Shanghai currently stand at several million yuan; its largest market is in Zhejiang Province, where it sells between 60 and 70 million yuan annually. A Shanghai production facility would assist the company in a southward expansion.According to national statistics, solar water heaters account for 11.2% of China's entire water heater market; this percentage is expected to rise to 30% by 2015, when the market value of solar heaters will reach 43.8 billion yuan.
