At a Sino-Korean insurance conference in Beijing yesterday, a number of Korean insurance companies expressed their intention to enter the Chinese market, The Beijing News reports. Samsung Fire & Marine and Samsung Life, which last year set up independent corporations as well as a life insurance joint venture, have long-term plans in the country. The head of Hyundai Marine & Fire said that his company had already applied to China's insurance regulators for authorization to incorporate; the application is currently under review.
