Jinyin Musical Instrument Co has invested US$56.8 million (RMB430 million) establishing a 7,000 square kilometer musical instrument research and development center in Wuqiang county, in Hebei province’s Hengshui city, the Hengshui Daily reported. Musical instrument production has been recognized as a pillar of the local economy. The county levies a unified administrative fee on its 52 musical instrument firms, which each pay more than US$13,210 (RMB100,000) in taxes earmarked for institutional, technical, managerial and brand innovations. Other traditional industries include glass fiber and cable production, with notable firms including Jieguan Glass Fiber and Sunzhuang Cable.
