The Economic Observer does a double number today on trouble in China’s manufacturing sector.  The first story covers a recent report by the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) that suggests hard times are ahead for China's textile industry

The second cites a report by Booz Allen and the American Chamber of Commerce identifying an erosion of the low cost advantage China's factories have enjoyed. However, the report finds a silver lining in the new found spending power of Chinese consumers, concluding that the most successful manufacturers in China are those that look to sell in China in addition to producing or sourcing from there.

The Silk Road International blog also has a nice post on the different types of factories in China. This is a great reference piece and I am sure I will look back on it from time to time.

The China Law Blog issues a warning to manufacturers looking to set up shop in China’s interior, complete with a hilarious Q&A with a guy trying to sell the advantages of Chongqing. The core of Dan Harris’ post is a guest column by William Dodson in EuroBiz Magazine this month setting out the deficiencies in business infrastructure away from China's eastern seaboard. Just because Ford can do Chongqing, it doesn’t mean everybody can.

The Financial Times reports that all the recent bad press related to Tibet and the Olympics has Beijing looking to hire a PR adviser on Tibet. We reckon the government should give Imagethief a call, or perhaps just look at his post today for some free advice on the subject.
