Sweden's SKF Group is aiming to expand in China, with the addition of three manufacturing plants by the end of the year, Forbes reported, citing China Daily. The company, which makes bearings, seals and related products, will also enter the market for supplying truck makers in China by the end of 2007,said Forbes. 'SKF will continue its strong investment to increase our manufacturing capacity for products used in the automotive, medical, food and wind energy industries in the coming few years,' the newspaper quoted SKF chief executive Tom Johnstone as saying. SKF also plans to localize all of its manufacturing products delivered to the Chinese market by the end of 2008. Currently, around half of the SKF bearing and seal products sold in China are imports, the newspaper added. The company announced on Sept 11 that production has started at its large-sized bearings factory in Dalian and its electromechanical actuators plant in Pindu. SKF's sales in China now exceed 3 billion SKR (428.57 million US dollars), making it the company's fourth biggest market. Other leading bearing makers including Germany's Schaeffler Group and US-based Timken are also increasing their manufacturing capability in China.
