TCL unifies R&D centers
TCL's mobile phone R&D centers in France, Shanghai, and Shenzhen will be unified under a new wholly-owned subsidiary, Chinese Business News reports. The JATX company, registered in Shenzhen, will be responsble for R&D work for the TCL and Alcatel brands. In an associated reorganization, TCL's six large sales operations - Europe, America, strategic OEM, TCL International, TCL China, and Alcatel - will be self-governing, and TCL's headquarters in Huizhou will become the manufacturing center for both TCL and Alcatel phones as R&D moves to Shenzhen. The move makes R&D, production, and sales relatively independent from each other; a high-level TCL insider said that spinning off JATX will make TCL's R&D more market-oriented.TCL looks to turn a profit this year, a prospect that some analysts say will be difficult if TCL fails to come up with a hit phone this year.Link: http://dycj.ynet.com/article.jsp?oid=7690228
