TCM exports slow
China's exports of pharmaceuticals rose 30% last year, reaching US$13.8 billion, the Beijing Times reports. Exports of traditional Chinese medicine, however, rose just 10.27%, to US$153 million. Tongrentang, Pientzehuang, and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Import Export Company were the top three exporters, according to information from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Medicines & Health Products. An analyst from Galaxy Securities said that the slower growth of TCM exports stemmed from imprecise dosage and composition of many Chinese medications, which often causes problems in registering with foreign drug regulators.Link: http://bjt.net.cn/news.asp?newsid=137827
