TD-SCDMA equipment sales near US$1b in 2Q

Spending on home-grown TD-SCDMA third generation mobile network equipment totalled US$952.38 million (RMB7.2 billion) in the second quarter, China Economic Net reported, citing a report from Beijing-based IT consultants Analysys International. The procurement value for the first half of 2007 stood at US$1.87 billion (RMB14.2 billion). TD-SCDMA is a China-developed 3G mobile communications standard.
