Telecom, IT investment to rise 10% next year
Fixed-asset investment in telecommunications
in China
is projected to hit 208.3 billion yuan (US$25.7 billion) in 2006 and 287.04
billion yuan (US$35.4 billion) in 2007, International
Finance News reports. Driven primarily by 3G and NGN expansion, the sector's rate of growth will
pass 10%; 3G operators
are scheduled to be licensed at the beginning of next year, with the first
group of customers in place by the end of 2006. Investment in IT is also
expected to increase after a slowdown in 2005, reaching 33.71 billion yuan (US$4.16
billion) next year, up 15.4% over 2005's 29.22 billion (US$3.61 billion).
