Trina Solar Ltd (NYSE: TSL), a Chinese solar power producer, said Tuesday it would invest $800 million in the next 3 years expanding its capacity in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, where it is headquartered. The company said in November that it would deliver 1GW of products in 2010, up 151% from a year ago.

Suntech Power Holdings Co (NYSE: STP) has overtaken First Solar Inc (NASDAQ: FSLR) to become the world's largest photovoltaic module producer, according to IMS Research. Suntech had previously expected to deliver 1.5GW of products this year and First Solar expected 1.3GW.
