Guiyang is the capital and largest city in Guizhou province, one of the most impoverished regions in China. With a population of over 4.3 million, the city's GDP grew 14.3% to ¥112 billion ($17.8 billion) in 2010. Guiyang is a major bauxite and aluminum producer, and a major manufacturer of mining devices, chemicals and aerospace engines in the province.
